Fall Workshops

Tunnel Workshop!

November 30, Saturday - 10:00 - 12:30 with Jordan Biggs

Tunnels are not just tunnels! We take tunnels for granted, yet tunnels are the second most common obstacle after jumps, and often the most frequent off-course challenge. This workshop will focus on your dog’s understanding of when to take the tunnel and when NOT to take the tunnel. We will work on teaching and building commitment to tunnels so you get to send, trust your dog to take the tunnel and get to where you need to go! We will talk about training tight turns out of tunnels, commitment to tunnels, tunnel traps (when we do not want the tunnel) and more! This workshop is open to all levels from foundation all the way through competition.

Start Right - Start Line Stays!

November 30, Saturday - 1:00 - 3:30 with Jordan Biggs

This workshop is all about building start line stays and how to create a reliable start line at any event! We will build understanding in the dogs through creative and fun play-based training methods. We will discuss how to build and continue to maintain this for all dogs. This is a great workshop for finding solutions for dogs with stress at the start line, dogs who just need a refresher or dogs that are starting their careers. In many cases this will also help contact performance as these two skills are often directly related. Skill level - All levels welcome.

Front Crosses

November 30, Saturday - 4:00 - 6:30 with Jordan Biggs

Holy Front Crosses, Batman! This workshop is all about the front cross. We will do front cross proofing exercises to build trust and commitment into your front crosses. Then we will put those fronts to the test by putting them in short sequences and courses so both you and your dog can learn how to master the front cross! This workshop is appropriate for dogs novice to masters level and want to improve your front cross commitment and understanding. (Due to scheduling conflicts Batman will not be able to attend this workshop).

Masters Coursework

December 1, Sunday - 10:00 - 12:30 with Jordan Biggs

In this workshop we will put your skills to the test in complex courses that challenge you and your dog’s abilities. We will focus on timing and execution of front crosses, blind crosses and rear crosses while at the same time testing obstacle performance on the weaves and contacts. This workshop is appropriate for dogs novice to masters level and want to improve your coursework.

Novice Coursework

December 1, Sunday - 1:00 - 3:30 with Jordan Biggs

Do you have a young dog that needs more experience? We will work on novice coursework while perfecting you and your dog’s understanding of front crosses, rear crosses and blind crosses! With a variety of skill building exercises, we will proof your dog’s skills so you can trust them on any course! These skills will help you in every venue such as AKC, CPE, USDAA or UKI! Skill Level - Novice and above. Sequencing jumps and tunnels.

Discriminations!

December 01, Sunday - 4:00 - 6:30 with Jordan Biggs

Does your dog understand their discriminations with you ahead? In the workshop we will break discriminations down so that both you and your dog understand them from anywhere! We will focus on cuing the obstacle and leaving so you can get anywhere on course! This workshop is appropriate for dogs novice to masters level and want to improve your serpentine commitment and understanding.

Building Motivation for Confidence & Speed

Not currently scheduled

Want to improve your dog's course times? Does your dog struggle with lack of motivation? Come join us for a workshop targeting building speed, confidence & motivation! This class is created for those who have dogs that may be lacking the motivation to play, train, or run with their handlers.

In this workshop, handlers will gain skills to help build confidence in their partners. Confidence will be reinforced through choice, progression, breaking behaviors down into small pieces, play, proper reinforcement, and more. This workshop will help create happy dogs, which in turn will create a cycle that leads to more participation and joyful learning from the canine half of the team.

Foundation Proofing

Not currently scheduled

This workshop consists of jumps, tunnels, broad jump, tire and doubles/triple (obstacles we often see but need more proofing). We will focus on building and maintaining your skills such as obstacle performance, bypasses, tunnel understanding and sequencing! Come challenge your foundation in this seminar and put your skills to the test to identify where you need to focus your training Skill Level - an understanding of jump/tunnel sequences. Some understanding of the ‘other jumps’ (broad jump, tire, double, triple).

Blind Crosses

Not currently scheduled

Holy Blind Crosses, Batman! This workshop is all about the blind. We will do blind cross proofing exercises to build trust and commitment into your blind crosses. Then we will put those blinds to the test by putting them in short sequences and courses so both you and your dog can learn how to master the blind cross! This workshop is appropriate for dogs novice to masters level and want to improve your blind cross commitment and understanding. (Due to scheduling conflicts Batman will not be able to attend this workshop).

Stopped Contacts

Not currently scheduled

In this workshop, we will help you and your dog find a path to an independent stopped end-behavior. We will discuss forward drive over the obstacle, lateral distance handling, side changes, send-aways, and strong verbal release cues.

If you have to manage your dog’s performance on the contact, you are not free to handle the course in the manner you wish. An independent dogwalk behavior gives you control of your movements on course and allows the dog to feel confident and in control of his choices, which in turn creates faster, more fluid performances.

Rapid Handling

Not currently scheduled

Test your handling skills in short challenging sequences! Sequences will contain between 8-12 obstacles, contacts and weaves. For dogs and handlers competing at advanced/masters level.

Commitment - Send and Go!

Not currently scheduled

Have you ever wondered how some people seem to just always be able to get ahead of their dog? It is because they can send and LEAVE! We will focus on training and building understanding of commitment to obstacles so you can get ahead. For teams sequencing jumps and tunnels.

Connection

Not currently scheduled

This workshop will challenge you and your dog’s connection on course. Providing off course opportunities, challenging lines and situations that test your skills as a team, you will learn how to stay connected throughout the course. This workshop is for those teams that are sequencing jumps and tunnels.

Play & Engagement

Not currently scheduled

Want to be the center of your dog’s world? Does your dog love to play? Do you want to build play into your training? Join us in this workshop to learn how to use play as a reinforcer for your dog! This is a great workshop for dogs that struggle with focus, play, toy play, retrieving toys, distractions, confidence and more!

Serpentines

Not currently scheduled

This workshop is all about Surps! We will do serpentine proofing exercises to build trust and commitment into your surps to get you moving down the line. Then we will put those surps to the test by putting them in short sequences and courses so both you and your dog can learn how to master the serpentine! This workshop is appropriate for dogs novice to masters level and want to improve your serpentine commitment and understanding.
