About Us

Our Goal:

At Argus Ranch, the goal is to provide a facility with a beneficial and
enrichingenvironment where handlers and their canine companions
can achieved successful working relationship.

Our History:

Many people have asked me wether the concept of Argus Ranch
had always been a dream of mine and wether I had always
been in the dog training world. The answer to both questions
is "No".I have always had dogs. The first dog was a family
dog and I got my first dog when I was 13 - a standard poodle,
of course! I have alsoowned a Golden Retriever, a mini
Dachshund and two Norwich Terriers. But I always goback to poodles.
All my dogs have been taught basic obedience. However, Bacci at age 2,
chose to forget what she knew and I took her back to Obedience Class.
When we finishedthe class, we decided to try Agility.
I got the bug and decided that I wanted to teach Agility
and possibly Obedience.

I had to have my back fused in November 2000. When I came
home from thehospital, my husband showed me a picture of
Argus Ranch. At the time, it was called Windy River Farm.
The old arena was like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
I had dreams about it almost every night and I kept track
of the property on the internetuntil I was finally able to go down and
see it in May 2001. The buildings seemed to assign themselves and
if I could also buy the next door property (Brutus Hall),
I felt I had a placewith huge potential. The new arena
is the only building that I have had to put up tocomplete
what I have here today.

I am not sure exactly what I thought Argus Ranch would be
when I started. I knew Iwanted classes in Agility and Obedience,
and Agility trials. I had bought at an opportune time.
The Fairgrounds and county parks were turning away dog events.
Sno-King, Western WashingtonHounds Association, and
Puget Sound K9 were extremely supportive and helpful. Gradually
by word of mouth, Argus Ranch came to be what it is today.
I only teach a couple of days a month now mostly
4H but I have a great staff.
I am busy running Argus and I am having a great time.
